Exciting Accounts Assistant Opportunity in the Education Sector – Bath
At WLP Recruitment, we are excited to partner with a leading educational institution looking for a dedicated Accounts Assistant to join their vibrant Finance team. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact by supporting the financial operations of a school, ensuring smooth and efficient processes across various key areas.

We’re seeking an honest, hardworking, and detail-oriented individual with a passion for supporting the education sector. While prior experience in finance or accounting administration is preferred, the most important qualities are a proactive attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
About the Role:
As the Accounts Assistant, you’ll report to the Management Accountant and be an essential part of the Finance team. You’ll be involved in a wide range of tasks, from payroll and billing to purchase ledger and credit control. Your role will contribute to the financial health of the school, helping ensure accuracy, transparency, and efficiency across all transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchase Ledger:
* Process purchase invoices, match to purchase orders, and attach all required documentation.
* Prepare and produce monthly budget reports for internal stakeholders.
* Oversee the fortnightly payment run.
* Process staff expense claims and credit card transactions, ensuring correct approvals.
* Reconcile supplier statements and communicate with suppliers to resolve issues.
* Investigate and address purchase ledger discrepancies.
Additional Duties:
* Conduct bank reconciliations.
* Build positive relationships with school staff, parents, and external contractors.
* Provide finance and administrative support within the education sector.
* Monitor the Finance inbox, ensuring all inquiries are assigned and addressed promptly.
* Maintain and update financial data in school systems, including tracking income and expenditure and generating reports for budget holders.
* Assist with ledger reconciliations and preparation of financial reports and statistics.
* Safeguard the receipt and banking of incoming funds.
* Assist with journal entries when required.
* Work closely with suppliers, contractors, and school staff, handling queries with professionalism and confidentiality.
