Animal Welfare Officer – Inspections
📍 East of England | ⏳ 6-month contract | 💰 £35–£40/hr (Umbrella)
Passionate about animal welfare? Join a proactive local authority team to ensure compliance and protect animal health across the region.
Your Role:
Conduct inspections of licensed premises (kennels, catteries, pet shops, breeders)
Investigate complaints and welfare concerns
Enforce legislation under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and related regulations
Prepare reports, serve notices, and gather evidence for legal proceedings
Advise businesses and the public on best practice and compliance
What We’re Looking For:
Strong knowledge of animal welfare legislation & licensing
Experience in inspections and enforcement within a local authority setting
Excellent communication and report-writing skills
Ability to manage a varied caseload independently
Full UK driving licence
