Base pay range

A$250,000.00/yr – A$350,000.00/yr

A prestigious investment manager is seeking a dynamic and highly commercial Corporate Legal Counsel to join their team. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned lawyer with significant experience in real estate development and construction law, particularly within the industrial sector. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee a significant portfolio of industrial/logistic assets and provide high-level legal advice on various commercial and development-related matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal counsel on commercial and development matters relating to a large and diverse real estate portfolio, with a focus on industrial/logistic assets.
  • Oversee and manage all legal aspects of development and construction projects, from project initiation through to completion.
  • Work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to advise on key commercial strategies and decisions.
  • Lead legal due diligence efforts for new acquisitions and developments, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Negotiate, draft, and review contracts, including development agreements, construction contracts, leases, and joint venture agreements.
  • Advise on risk management, including identifying and mitigating legal risks associated with ongoing projects and transactions.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies that align with the company’s business objectives and growth plans.
  • Collaborate with external legal advisors, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of projects and transactions.

Key Requirements:

  • Significant experience (10+ years) in real estate, construction, and infrastructure law, preferably from top-tier law firms or in-house roles with a strong focus on development and commercial matters.
  • Expertise in managing complex legal issues associated with large-scale real estate transactions, developments, and construction projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to advise on a wide range of business and legal matters, balancing legal risk with business goals.
  • Previous experience with a major real estate or infrastructure developer is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of working closely with senior management and stakeholders to provide strategic legal advice and ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
