Design Team Lead | Steel Manufacturing

Jackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting with the appointment of a Design Team lead to join our client based in the Washington area. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and growing company within the UK construction industry, and the ideal candidate will be an experience design engineer who has previous management/supervisory experience or looking to move into a management position. The main responsibilities of the role will be to oversee design solutions for structural steel products within the masonry support sector. Main Responsibilities:

* Manage design solutions for wind post product ranges, ensuring high quality, manufacturable and regulation compliant designs

* Utilise 2D and 3D CAD software to design bespoke steel designs

* Oversee and manage the design team, ensuring workload is allocated effectively and completed on time.

* Work closely with architects, engineers, and builders’ merchants to develop and refine product designs.

* Troubleshoot design, manufacturing, and on-site issues.

* Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless project delivery.

* Lead process improvements to enhance design efficiency and output.

* Engage in new product development, from concept to production.

Requirements,

* Degree in Engineering, Design, or the Built Environment (or equivalent experience).

* Proficiency in 2D and 3D design software. Tekla software experience advantageous.

* Proven industry experience in design or manufacturing ideally in process and systems innovation.

* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.

* Experience leading a team and allocating workloads effectively.

* Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.

* Understanding of manufacturing processes.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).

* Ability to challenge the status quo positively and drive innovation.
