Due to growth in service, we are recruiting for Head of Faculty Science to join our amazing team.
Core tasks and responsibilities (in addition to those of a classroom teacher):A
to raise standards of pupil attainment and achievement within the faculty.
monitor and support pupil progress through liaising with the Academic Intervention Co-ordinator as appropriateA
to be accountable for pupil progress and outcomes within the facultyA
to ensure the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for pupils studying in the department across all Key Stages
to be accountable for leading and developing the faculty curriculum. Ensure the range of subjects and qualifications are regularly reviewed in response to national developments and the needs of the school and students
to deploy financial and physical resources within the faculty effectively to support the school and faculty development plans
to work in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team to develop, implement and evaluate the whole school faculty strategy
Essential
Relevant honours degreeA
QTS status
Knowledge of recent developments in learning and teachingA
A reflective practitioner who consistently seeks to improve their teaching to support learning and accelerate student progressA
A good understanding of effective ways to facilitate learningA
A strong understanding of the relevant subject curriculumA
Good working knowledge of all Key Stage subject related qualifications

Oak Tree School in Truro has recently expanded and developed two new buildings and undergone a successful inspection from Ofsted allowing us to offer a wider age range of pupils from 5 18 years the opportunity to have the best education possible. Oak Tree School is a specialist SEMH provision positioned near the city of Truro in Cornwall. The school provides full-time specialist co-education for up to 135 pupils and young people aged 5 to 18 who experience social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. These pupils and young people often cannot cope, function or achieve within a mainstream environment. The aim is to provide a structured, nurturing approach, with pupils accessing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum to meet their significant needs.
This opportunity is in Truro which is within commutable distance of Redruth, St Austell and surrounding areas.
