Sprout Social is looking to hire a Head of Total Rewards to join the People team.

As a Head of Total Rewards, reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, you will play an impactful role in leading the Total Rewards team to ensure a best-in-class experience for all Sprout team members.  You will be responsible for driving and managing the development and continuous improvement of our global total rewards program. You will provide strategic leadership and you will manage the execution of benefits, compensation, and equity that help us attract and retain the best talent.

What you’ll do

Provide strategic leadership to define a Global Total Rewards philosophy and execute on this strategy

Deepen our existing compensation program and philosophy to attract and retain world-class talent across all functions

Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of compensation programs, including base salary structures, incentive plans and equity programs.

Lead/manage our existing Benefits team members

Lead the development and management of employee benefits programs, including health and wellness benefits, retirement plans, leave policies, and other employee perks.

Ensure our compensation and benefits programs remain competitive and aligned with industry standards through regular market research.

Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and deliver effective communication and education programs to enhance employee understanding and engagement with total rewards offerings.

Partner with employment counsel to monitor and analyze compensation and benefits trends, legislation, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and make recommendations for necessary adjustments.

Partner with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely budgeting, forecasting, and reporting of total rewards expenses.

Manage relationships with external vendors, such as compensation consultants, benefits providers, and other relevant stakeholders to optimize program effectiveness and cost efficiency.

Provide guidance and support to People Business Partners and managers on compensation and benefits matters, including job evaluations, salary offers, promotions, and other related activities.

Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in total rewards to continuously enhance the organization’s programs and maintain competitiveness in the talent market.

What you’ll bring

A successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of Total Rewards and reporting requirements, as well as experience managing a team. They will possess a heightened attention to detail, sense of urgency, ability to organize time effectively, and ability to effectively re-prioritize when needed. They should have a demonstrated ability to creatively solve problems and communicate promptly, especially when unusual situations arise. As a People leader, they should also have a keen focus and understanding of the importance of coaching, mentorship, and empowering an inclusive team culture.

These are the minimum qualifications that our hiring team is seeking for this role:

8+ years in total rewards management, including compensation design, benefits administration, and executive compensation with at least 3+ years as a people leader

Proven track record of developing and implementing innovative total rewards strategies that align with organizational goals and support recruitment and retention.

Strong ability to partner cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external service providers.

Analytical and Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLookups, IF formulas, etc.), demonstrating the ability to leverage data to drive decision-making and measure program effectiveness.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership, HR teams, and external stakeholders.

Additionally, these are the preferred qualifications that would indicate a particularly strong candidate:

Experience with HRIS systems (Workday) and compensation/benefits software tools.

Professional certifications such as Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) are desirable.

How you’ll grow

Within 1 month, you’ll plant your roots, including:

Experience Sprout’s in-depth onboarding, covering everything from our company mission and values and hearing directly from our company founders and senior leadership, to training on our products, business model and the value that Sprout delivers to our customers.

Make a plan with your manager to set initial priorities, align on expectations for your role, plant goalposts for your career growth and development at Sprout, and learn about Sprout’s approach Global People organization

Meet individually with team members to set initial priorities and align on short-term and long-term expectations.

Become familiar with our benefits offerings and reporting processes in Workday. We want you to dive in and help us find ways we can optimize our processes, so don’t be afraid to give us feedback. We welcome it!

Within 3 months, you’ll start hitting your stride by:

Begin to oversee Total Rewards operations including Equity and benefits team members.

Effectively communicate benefits changes, challenges, and resolutions both to the team and cross-functional stakeholders.

Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure equity goals are on track.

Ensure benefits systems and processes are operating efficiently and effectively.

Within 6 months, you’ll be making a clear impact through:

Have your first performance conversation with your manager, where you’ll discuss your accomplishments in your role and work together to build goals for your professional growth and that of your team and function.

Analyze global compensation trends, benchmarking, and market surveys.

Assume ownership/management of vendor relations

Oversee the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of employee benefits resources (e.g., Sprout wiki, onboarding documentation, etc.).

Develop ad hoc benefits reporting and processes, as needed.

Within 12 months, you’ll make this role your own by:

Be completely at home as a People leader and critical member of the Global People Ops team and Sprout.

Provide strategic guidance through thought leadership related to benefits, compensation, and equity.

Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of the Total Rewards strategy and recommend changes as needed.

The base pay range for this role is $160,000 – $230,000 USD annually. Individual base pay is based on various factors, including relevant experience and skills, the responsibility of the role, and job duties/requirements. In addition to base pay, some Sales and Success roles can earn sales incentives.

Sprout’s compensation ranges are intentionally broad to allow for our team members’ growth within their role. These ranges were determined by a market-based compensation approach; we used data from trusted third-party compensation sources to set equitable, consistent and competitive ranges. We also evaluate compensation bi-annually, identify any changes in the market and make adjustments to our ranges and existing employee compensation as needed.

Base pay is only one element of an employee’s total compensation at Sprout. Every Sprout team member has an opportunity to receive restricted stock units (RSUs) under Sprout’s equity plan. Employees (and their dependents) are covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life, accidental death, and dismemberment insurance, and Modern Health (a wellness benefit).  Employees are able to enroll in Sprout’s company’s 401k plan, in which Sprout will match 50% of your contributions up to 6% with a maximum contribution. Sprout offers “Flexible Paid Time Off” and ten paid holidays.
