This is a regional (South East) HR Advisor role and, as part of the ER / HR team, you will provide high quality HR advice to managers and operational management teams that drives the achievement of the organisational strategy, objectives, culture and values and builds an inclusive and diverse workforce.
* Understand the key people issues for business group / business unit
* Attend operational management meetings, providing specialist HR advice and input across all aspects of people performance and people management
* Provide regular reporting to operational leaders and management teams on people performance, using data and insights to identify trends, issues and risks
* Actively use workforce information and trend data to advise managers on actions to improve people leadership and management in their areas
* Advise and support managers on appropriate action to take on disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence issues, supporting managers to resolve issues informally at an early stage wherever possible
* Advise managers and staff on the interpretation and application of terms and conditions of service and contractural issues
* Ensure that advice complies with legislation, policy and procedures and enables effective people management
* Attend informal and formal meetings / hearings as necessary, and advise on management reports and correspondence in accordance with procedures
* Ensure that appropriate information is captured and maintained in the ER tracker to enable accurate monitoring and reporting
* Take notes at relevant meetings where appropriate and provide advice to managers to ensure the standard of note taking and record keeping on all ER matters is to a high standard and compliant with GDPR obligations
* Build effective relationships with local trade union / staff side representatives
Building people management capability
* Provide coaching and feedback to support managers to provide high quality people leadership and people management, and role model the organisations desired culture and values
* Provide coaching and guidance to enable operational managers and management teams to coach and feedback to direct reports and teams effectively, recognising high performance, and addressing issues / problems when they occur
* Provide regular briefings and appropriate coaching / training to operational managers and management teams on people management, HR practice, and new policy/ initiative development
* Actively promote effective people leadership and people management with managers
* Actively challenge poor practice and behaviours
* Ensure that managers have a good understanding of key HR policies and procedures and apply these in practice
* Provide advice and support to managers on change management, including restructuring, designing and developing new roles or changes to roles, and developing job descriptions
* Review job descriptions to ensure they are fit for purpose and meet the standards for job evaluation
* Provide advice and support to managers on formal consultation processes, including attending meetings and taking notes
* Participate in HR projects and initiatives as required
What you’ll need to succeed
We are looking for candidates that are either immediately available or on a short notice.CIPD Level 5 qualified/or equivalent or be studying towards your CIPD.
2 years’ + experience of working in an HR Advisory role with related proven ER experience in a fast-paced, high volume environment.
A car driver able to travel to sites in the South East on average 2 days a week.
Good working knowledge of Employment Law
Experience of maintaining HR databases
Mail merge/ Excel Reports and Excellent IT Skills
Excellent organisational skills
