Our Asset Reliability division is a specialist provider of condition-based monitoring and reliability engineering services. It joins best engineering businesses to our Group. We’re now looking for a junior Python-Django developer to expand our team.

What are we looking for?

A passionate and curious problem-solver with a knack for learning new technologies.

Comfortable working with code, but also understand the bigger picture of how it impacts the user experience.

Some hands-on experience with Python and the Django web framework.

A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.

Minimum A-level mathematics or equivalent qualification

Bonus points if you have:

Experience with data analysis or sensor technology.

A background in engineering or mathematics.

Familiarity with using git for source control.

Experience with databases and SQL – we use Postgres.

Familiarity with web security best practices.

Experience working with Linux and cloud platforms.

Degree (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) in Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, Physics or other technical subject.

What will I be doing?

You will be reporting into the team manager responsible for our SAMS structural health monitoring application. You will be:

Writing reusable, testable, and efficient Python code within the Django framework

Working with the development team to advance the overall architecture design of the application.

Integrating of user-facing elements with server-side logic.

Talking with our engineering experts, implementation project managers, and key customers to understand requirements and obtain feedback.

Performance tuning, software improvement, bug fixing, and task automation.

Integrating data acquisition from a range of sensors into application.

Assisting with production deployment within our automated release pipelines.

Carrying out developer level quality assurance tasks: code review and unit testing.

Researching new technologies that can be used to enhance future versions of our application.

We are a relatively small team tasked with providing innovation and robust solutions.  To succeed, this role demands someone with passion for their work who is able communicate with ease both with our operations and delivery teams as well as colleagues on the SAMS team.
