Gumlu State School is seeking a driven and enthusiastic part-time Principal, for Friday each week, with a passion for rural communities to lead the school up until 27 June 2025.

About Gumlu State School
Established in 1913, Gumlu State School caters for students from Prep to Year 6 and has an enrolment of 6 students. At Gumlu State School, all staff are committed to ensuring positive learning outcomes for every learner in a challenging, supportive yet equitable learning environment. The school’s vision was developed from the values and beliefs of the school and members of the community.

Gumlu State School is located in a rural setting, between the townships of Home Hill and Bowen.
The school is approximately 40 minutes south of the Burdekin centres of Ayr and Home Hill, and 45 minutes north of Bowen. The largest centre in northern Australia, Townsville, is located approximately 90 minutes to the north.
The proximity of these centres make them easily reached gateways for exploring the wonders of North Queensland such as the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsundays, the rainforests of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area to the north, and the Queensland outback.
About the Role
You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
- Lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Uphold the principalship as a values-based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Active participants in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
