A little bit more about us

Sensear manufactures and distributes a world-leading range of hearing protection communication headsets (over-the-ear and in-the-ear) products. Core to the Sensear product differentiation is its revolutionary and patented Speech Enhancement Noise Suppression (SENS) technology that separates speech from background noise allowing for face-to-face communication in the noisiest environments. The user can hear the speech clearly while still maintaining situational awareness. SENS enables the user to: hear speech clearly in high noise; maintain situational awareness; and protect hearing by maintaining noise in the ear of below 82db. Sensear distributes its products globally and has built an impressive customer base of global industry leaders including Rio Tinto, BP, Chevron, Microsoft, and Motorola.

What You’ll Do

You will work in a small, focused and dynamic engineering team where your contributions directly shape our products and their success in the market. As part of our team, you’ll:

  • Design and implement cutting-edge software architectures for embedded systems that power our advanced communication products.
  • Write, test, and debug code in C/C++ for microcontrollers and real-time operating systems (RTOS), ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Develop drivers, communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, Bluetooth), and other low-level software components.
  • Work closely with hardware engineers to bring new designs to life, ensuring seamless hardware-software integration.
  • Tackle complex real-time challenges like threading, optimization, memory management, and interrupt handling.
  • Collaborate on innovative solutions in areas like audio signal processing, DSP, and advanced communication technologies.
  • Play a key role in all stages of the software development lifecycle, from concept to commercialization.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone with the following:

  • A degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing embedded software systems.
  • Strong programming skills in embedded C/C++.
  • Experience with debugging tools like JTAG, SWD, and in-circuit emulators.
  • Knowledge of wired (e.g., I2C, SPI, USB) and wireless (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) communication protocols.
  • Expertise in solving real-time embedded issues, including threading and optimization.
  • Familiarity with board support packages (BSPs), bootloaders, and low-level software components.
  • A track record in product development and commercialization.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with high-level languages or scripting (e.g. Python, Swift, Java).
  • Familiarity with ARM Cortex multicore MCUs.
  • Knowledge of audio DSP algorithm development and digital filter design.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build automation tools.
  • Passion for audio technologies and their applications.
