Consulting on inventive comms systems for defence/security projects
A well-respected specialist technical consultancy in Surrey offers an interesting challenge to skilled Senior Hardware Engineers with good skills in VHDL and PCB design.
Working on the cutting edge of innovation for communications systems, Senior Hardware Engineers will be responsible for designing and developing state-of-the-art PCBs. They will be using high speed network interfaces, FPGAs and SoCs, and will be comfortable using VHDL to model and implement algorithms for image and signal processing. It will also include managing layout and fabrication, capturing schematics with OrCAD, and writing test firmware and software.
As our client is a consultancy, excellent communications skills are expected, and as a senior member of the team, mentoring less experienced engineers will also be a part of the role. This group likes to encourage their engineers to work on their own initiative and take on responsibility for major projects quickly, offering them a compelling and stimulating working environment.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
• a good (1st/2.1) degree or a PhD in a numerate discipline; with a strong academic background including As in A level Maths and Physics
• well-established skills in and broad experience of complex PCB design
• proven and honed skills in FPGA development in VHDL
• software development experience in embedded C/C++
• strong verbal and written presentation skills
This role is only open to British citizens who are confident they will be able to obtain at least SC level security clearance, due to the defence and security related projects they will encounter. Applicants with visas or who would require sponsorship will not be considered for this position.
