We are seeking applications from qualified veterinary nurses to work in our Community Practice department, within our Companion Animal Hospital team.

Mahi Ngātahi | Who you will work with

Within our Companion Animal Team, you will be working alongside Veterinary Specialists and general practitioners in New Zealand’s only Veterinary teaching hospital facility. Massey Vets provides 24/7 Emergency Critical care for Vet clinics throughout the wider Manawatu-Whanganui region and provides afterhours care to practices all over the Manawatu. This leads to a both challenging and extremely rewarding nursing environment. AND you get to help animals and their families make their lives better.

Massey’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a state-of-the-art, fast-paced facility offering New Zealand’s most comprehensive veterinary expertise. Our community practice team enjoy a fast-paced environment, and varied roles working alongside the other departments within the hospital, allowing scope to further educate in other areas.

As the successful applicant, you will have experience in general practice nursing and be able to multitask and prioritise, as no two days are the same. There will be a lot of opportunities to run general anaesthetics and work with gorgeous puppies and kittens, as well as scope to start your own nurse-led consultations.

Join an awesome team of 5 nurses who work on a rotating roster, but within business hours, Monday to Friday. So no rostered Saturday work! YAY! As part of this role, you will be required to participate on an after-hours on-call roster including public holidays and weekends, but only approximately 1 in every 10 weeks. What a great work-life balance!

MUST HAVES:

Diploma of Vet Nursing or above
Minimum of one year’s experience in general practice
Experience with general anaesthesia and surgical nursing
Natural empathy toward the cultural, emotional and physical state of our clients and patients alike
A positive attitude and a passion for critical care and client relations
Genuine interest in undergraduate education
