OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGER

About the Role

This position will deliver professional advice and expertise, implement best practice systems and processes and provide coaching and leadership in the area of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance, advice and support to operational managers concerning their WHS responsibilities and the achievement of Aveo’s safety objectives, KPIs and compliance targets.
  • Consult, advise and guide managers and employees on a broad range of health and safety matters and work collaboratively to implement effective incident prevention and management practices.
  • Advise, and assist with incident management. This includes investigating and managing notifiable and high-risk incidents and their actions.
  • Complete ad-hoc WHS projects as directed by the National Health and Safety Manager.
  • Oversee, monitor and assist with WHS training requirements.
  • Implement safety initiatives and continuous improvements that will strengthen the WHS Management system.
  • Respond to general WHS inquiries from managers and staff.
  • Assist in the delivery of the annual WHS Audit Plan by undertaking a portfolio of safety audits and reporting the results of said audits to community management.
  • Assist in WHS Governance reporting and WHS System, risk and hazard management
  • Regular travel to sites throughout Aveo’s Communities (QLD & Northern NSW)
  • Assist with Southern Region’s safety requirements if Southern Region Advisor is on leave.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, health, WHS or other related field with relevant experience.
  • Riskman and Safety Culture system experience advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar multi-site role
  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyse WHS issues and develop and implement appropriate strategies, policies, procedures and programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate WHS projects
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse safety statistics, identify trends and develop preventative strategies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and guidelines across all states
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring, coaching and designing and delivering training for staff in WHS
  • Well-developed communication skills – specifically collaboration and stakeholder management skills, and a proven ability to consult, partner, negotiate and influence.
  • Must be able to work autonomously, be able to effectively prioritise their work and be able to respond effectively to changing operational needs and challenges
  • Bachelor degree in science, health, WHS or other related field with Additional tertiary qualifications specific to WHS
  • Demonstrated measuring and monitoring (auditing) experience.
  • Rehabilitation & Return to Work Co-ordinator experience and ICAM investigation course completion advantageous.
  • Current drivers licence
